Looking Unto Jesus

Psalm 63:1-2 "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary."
King David was called "a man after Gods own heart." He steadfastly sought the Holy One of Israel and didn't look to another. Other than the incident involving Bathsheba, he remained consistant; knowing that the Lord God is "a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1) He was an example of how we ought to be in this age when men don't adhere to sound doctrine, but rather, heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. (II Timothy 4:3) We live in an era when ideas and images can circle the globe in the twinkling of an eye and can be distributed throughout the population of the whole world with very little effort. For example, a student in Waziristan can log onto the internet, type in philippians 320, and read this post only seconds after it's published. The internet, along with the media, will no doubt be instrumental in the distribution of the "big lie" that will cause the world to wonder after the beast.
Never has it been more important to keep our eyes on jesus and not become sidetracked by anything. There seems to be a neverending supply of sideshows and distractions that would get us involved with frivilous debates and questions instead of seeking the Lord Jesus in prayer and staying in his word continually. I watch christians become obsessed with the political process instead of preparing their hearts for the days ahead. (Just a note; with the introduction of electronic voting, accurate elections have been relegated to the pages of history.) I watch those who claim to love the Lord jesus Christ become overcharged with material gains and "pierce themselves through with many sorrows." (I Timothy 6:10) We see a falling away taking place as entertainment takes the place of true worship and time spent around the altar. These things will accelerate as the illusion of peace and safety gives way to the sudden destruction that's told about in I Thessalonians.
I Thessalonians 5:2-4 "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief."
This is a theme that comes up quite often in both blog sites. To keep our eyes upon Jesus and not to be overcharged with the happenings of the day. In this age of incredible delusion and unbelievable shallowness, we must remain focused on the world to come. This we do, despite an environment that's coming increasingly hostile to the gospel.
Romans 13:11-14 "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore dast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof."
Being sober-minded and serious in this hour is imperative, as is living a life of true holiness. Not putting on a show, but living for the Lord Jesus in all sincerety as a true remnant, determined to finish the race that is set before us. In other words, to just BE REAL! I have to cut this post short as I must go into town, but please keep your focus on Jesus and don't go chasing down rabbit trails that lead one into the realm of irrelevency.
Colossians 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ"
I Timothy 1:4 "Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godlt edifying which is in faith: so do."
II Timothy 2:15-16 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness."
