Things Too Wonderful for Me

Albert Einstein once uttered the statement "The human mind is not capable of grasping the universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library...The child knows that someone must have written those books. It does not know who or how" This is an incredibly profound observation from a man with a predominatly humanistic view of things. While his actual beliefs concerning the spiritual realm may be the subject for endless debate, one thing is for sure. He recognized the vastness of the creation and struggled to make sense of it all. Here's what the apostle Paul told the Athenians.
Acts 17:22-28 "Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars hill and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with mens hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring."
Without a doubt our God is an awesome God! The creation declares that "God Is" as do the scriptures. Have you ever seen the "Hubble Deep Field" image? This image was taken several years ago when the Hubble telescope was aimed at the emptiest portion of sky that could be found and allowed to gather data for a period of days. (I think it was "days") The result of this peering into the emptiest portion of sky revealed millions of galaxies previously undiscovered. They filled the image. This universe; just the visible portion alone, is on a scale of immensity that we cannot even begin to fathom. This physical matter makes up what scientists believe is less than one percent of what is. Dark matter and dark energy are thought to make up the rest. This doesn't even begin to take into account the spiritual realm which exists beyond the directly observable. The more that is known about the universe, the less we understand it. And yet this is nothing in comparison to how big God is who fills the heavens that he created. When you really think about how he inhabits "all of eternity" and yet knows the number of hairs on your head, the only thing that you can say is "WOW!"
Psalm 148:2-5 "Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.
Job 38:31-35 (Read this entire chapter to get the "whole" of it) Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion theeof in the earth? Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? Canst thou send lightenings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are? Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
God fills every aspect of all that is. From the most remote galaxy down to sub-atomic structures. His ways are truly past finding out. And yet he has made a way for us to know him. That way is through Jesus Christ by whom the worlds were created.
John 1:10-12 "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
In your natural state, you are separated from God. All of us have sinned and none of us deserve to be with God. But because Jesus Christ came into the world, lived a sinless life, and shed his blood on the old rugged cross to pay for our sin, we can have eternal life through him. Because of Jesus death, burial, and resurrection, we have access to the Father through faith. In other words, this AWESOME GOD that inhabits eternity wants to have a personal relationship with you. Such a great salvation is yours for the asking.
There is nothing in this world that can even come close to having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this life that can offer lasting joy and perfect peace. The peace of God that passes understanding is real. There is power in the blood of the Lamb to forgive sins. That blood is as powerful today as it was two thousand years ago. That precious blood will cleanse you from all sin if you accept Jesus as your Savior.
Gods ways are not our ways. His ways are so far above ours that we could never write their formulas and place them all in a cleverly written text book. But when you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, he will begin to grant you understanding and wisdom. True wisdom that comes from the Holy One of Israel.
Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding"
Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."
I have to close in a few moments, but please consider the things here. Read Matthew chapters five through 7. Here, as throughout all of the gospels and all of scripture, you begin to see the nature of God. Jesus is the express image of the Father his ways are awesome. Can you imagine if everyone lived by the principles that Jesus taught? (sinful men are incapable of doing this) There would be peace on earth in a moment. That wont take place until he comes back, but it testifies to just how perfect his ways are. The book of Proverbs tells of the incredible common sense wisdom that God gave to King Solomon. GOD IS BEYOND AWESOME. There really aren't words in our vocabulary to accurately describe how great he is. Let me close with one final verse.
Romans 11:33-36 "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his councellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen"
