And the souls of men

Her name is "Teresa Rios" and her story appeared today in the Kalamazoo Gazette. She is twenty seven years of age and abides, along with her two children, at a domestic assault shelter in Juarez Mexico. She's currently engaged in a custody battle with her ex-husband and I imagine that such situations are every bit as dramatic there as they are in this country. Two weeks ago she was hired to work at the new Electrolux plant and things are looking up for her and her family. The basis of the article was to tell how such plants are creating opportunities for people such as Teresa, even though the pay is only $10 per day. The story caught my attention for a number of reasons. For one, it highlights just how complex the global situation is and while this is a great opportunity for the citizens of Juarez, it came at the cost of approximatly 1500 jobs in Greenville, Michigan, where the plant had been for generations. We really shouldn't have any ill feelings toward anyone. This situation is out of the hands of all of us and I have added Teresa to my prayer list. The eternal soul of an individual is far more important than any economic or political structure. The folks in Greenville are equally important. This world will pass away but eternity is forever. A lot of fingerpointing goes on these days as who is causing the dismantling of the United States. There is a globalist agenda to be sure, but the problem goes deeper than that. The primary reason as to why this country is moving in reverse is the blatant sin that's in the land. You don't destroy more than 70 million unborn babies and expect to be blessed of God. Your don't teach homosexuality to kindergardeners (as is planned in California) and think that God will look the other way. You don't take God out of your education system; attemptiing to remove any reference to the Creator, who inhabits all of eternity, and not have adverse effects. To us, they're only numbers. More than 70 million abortions, and now with the morning after pill, who knows? Well God knows exactly how many children have been murdered in this country. He knows each one of them by name and he knows the number of hairs that would have been on their heads. The Lord Jesus was very specific in matters regarding children. In Mark 10:14 he commanded to suffer the children to come unto him. In Matthew 18:6 he stated "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea." In Jeremiah 1:5, God told the prophet "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Each day in this country, more children are killed and each day we provoke the Holy One of Israel. You add to that all of the garbage coming out of hollywood, the spirit of lawlessness thats being released through much of todays music, and the general self-centeredness of this generation and you realize just how accurate Lamenations 3:22 is which states "It is of the Lords mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." We abide because he is longsuffering, but eventually he will have to render judgment and I truly believe that it's already started. I've heard many people state that the United States is Babylon of Revelation chapter 18. One thing is for sure, if you read the chapter, it sounds a lot like the United States as it is today. For the last 15 years or so we have refered to ourselves as the "lone superpower." Revelation 18:7 states "How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow." Such is the attitude of so many today. We really shouldn't be surprised by any of it as Jesus warned about the dangers of this age. Get as close to the Lord as you can and hide his word in your heart. The turmoil that's going on now is as nothing when compared to what's coming. Each day that remains, praise God for it and use it wisely; both to serve him and to draw ever closer to him.
